Elmer Whaley was born in Duplin County, son of Joel and Anna Pigford Whaley. He (1st) married Louise and (2nd) Dorothy Gatlin Heath of Pamlico County. Elmer is buried Golden Grove Cemetery, Kenansville, NC He married Louise June 26, 1936. There were no children born to them. His second marriage was to Dorothy Gatlin Heath. Elmer died in 1981 and Dorothy died in 1986. Joel Whaley, born March 16, 1860, died April 16, 1955. Joel and Anna were married in Pender County April 15, 1891. Their marriage was witnessed by Sheriff Ward. Anna Lee Pigford Whaley was born Nov. 12, 1868 and died Oct. 27, 1950. Children of Joel and Anna Whaley were: Manly Pigford Whaley, born in Onslow County March 13, 1892 and died July 14, 1965. He married April 18, 1922. Alton Whaley, born Onslow Co. June 2, 1894 and died May 14, 1964. He married Nov. 8, 1928. William Bernice Whaley was born in Onslow Co. Nov. 27, 1896. I don't have a death date. He married Dec. 21, 1921. Mary Ernestine Whaley, born in Pender Co. April 2, 1899. No death date available. She married July 5, 1922. Ottis Green Whaley was born in Pender Co. Sept 21, 1901. He died 1975. He first married October 5, 1925. His second marriage was Oct. 3, 1946. Ima Lee Whaley was born March 8, 1904 in Pender County. She married May 21, 1927. Joe Chester Whaley was born Pender Co. Sept 23, 1907. He died January 1, 1962. He married October 1939. I am in possession of some really old picture albums that belonged to Elmer Whaley. I feel he must have nieces or nephews that would like to have the pictures. I am trying to locate any descendants of this family.
