Bessie Pauline Barnes was born December 23, 1886 in Goldsboro, Wayne County. She was the daughter of Thomas W. and Sarah Ophelia Rose Barnes. This photo was taken in 1909 when she was 21 years old. In 1910 she married Thomas Wilson Coleman of Rocky Mount, Edgecombe County.
