James Marshall HARDY (young and old), b. 19 July 1845 - d. 11 March 1920; married 
Elizabeth Susan SPENCE, the daughter of James Madison SPENCE and Nancy 
GOODMAN of Liddell District, Strabane Township, Lenoir Co., N.C. 

They are both buried in the J. M. SPENCE Cemetery in Liddell. (no dates are listed on 
tombstone of Bettie S. Hardy). Thanks to Sloan Spence Mason for the information on 
this family.

Parents were William Hedrick Hardy and his wife Tempie Virginia Nethercutt. Thanks

We thank the staff at LCC for their permission to copy selected

Permission to combine said documents together in printed form is not

It is well known that this Bible was read under Ultra Violet Light at 
the NC Archives in November 1964. One of the pages is fairly readable, 
some of the rest are not, and the entries are from the reading by the 
Archives when available.

The Bible is in possession of the family of Leonard Parks Hardy and was 
lent for copying by Irene Hardy Croom, daughter of Mr. Hardy. The Bible 
is small, more like a Prayer Book.
